The whole point of the series is to introduce Kamala Khan and how she became a superhero. Still not feeling the name “light girl” or “night light,” she thought of a lot of monikers she could use, an alias to keep her identity safe. It turns out she had it in her all this time and Yusuf made her realize how fitting the title Ms. Marvel would be.
Why and How Did Kamala Get The Name Ms. Marvel Explained
From the start of the series, Kamala’s superhero name has been changing from “light girl,” to “night light,” but none of those monikers rang a bell to her. She didn’t like it, she could even prefer being called as the budget Captain Marvel in the second episode. In the end, she becomes Ms. Marvel and Yusuf opened Kamala’s eyes to realize how the name was with her since birth.
While having some father-and-daughter moment on the roof, Yusuf asked Kamala if she already has a superhero name and Kamala said she was still thinking about it. Yusuf brought up how she was named “Kamala.”
Yusuf recalled how he and Muneeba had difficulties to get a second child after Aamir so when Kamala came along, Yusuf told her how perfect she was for them. They decided to call her Kamala because “Kamal” in Arabic means perfect. In Urdu, it means “wonder” or “marvel,” hence, since Kamala was little, she was their little “Ms. Marvel.”

Kamala couldn’t believe it at first because her idol is Carol Danvers who has the moniker of Captain Marvel. What better alias could she have than Ms. Marvel, right? It fits her name and her aspirations well.
The series is just the start of the many adventures Kamala will take in the MCU as Ms. Marvel and the post-credits scene of the finale already teased what is next for her.
Ms. Marvel Episode 6, the finale, is now streaming on Disney Plus.
