Whoopi Goldberg is the latest celebrity to slam Meghan Markle after the latter accused Deal or No Deal of reducing her to a specific archetype. During this week's episode of her Spotify podcast, the Duchess of Sussex claimed that she wasn't happy to be reduced to someone who's beautiful but who lacks substance.

During her conversation with Paris Hilton and Iliza Shlesinger, Meghan Markle said that being in Deal or No Deal felt great at the time because she received her paycheck and was also getting health insurance. But after just 34 episodes, she decided to quit the program and pursue an actual acting job.
"I was surrounded by smart women on that stage with me. But that wasn't the focus of why we were there. I would end up leaving with this pit in my stomach knowing that I was so much more than what was being objectified on the stage," she said (via Decider).

But after hearing her recent comments, Goldberg slammed Prince Harry's wife by saying that it is possible that the people behind Deal or No Deal did not try to objectify the briefcase girls on the show. Rather, it was Markle who objectified them.
Goldberg also said that the briefcase girls knew what exactly they signed up for when they joined the show. And at the end of the day, they were most likely focused on wanting to earn a steady income.
"They're thinking, 'I want the money.' The objectification might be coming from you and how you felt about how these women were being portrayed," she said (via Decider).
Talk Show Host Reminded Meghan Markle What Performers Are Supposed To Do
Goldberg also said that performers are called as such for a reason they need to take on different roles that do not always align with who they are.
"That's what you have to change because we're performers. When you're a performer, you take the gig. Sometimes you're in a bozo suit, sometimes you got a big nose, and this is just the way it is. We're not journalists. We're actors. We're trying to get to another place," she said.
Goldberg also questioned what Markle was thinking when she accepted the gig. Obviously, the Duchess of Sussex had an idea that briefcase girls in Deal or No Deal just smiled and opened briefcases for the contestants.
"If you see it and that's how you feel, just maybe you don't want to make the other women feel bad because maybe they're trying to make a living, too," she said.
On her podcast, Markle said that being a mother gave her a different outlook on life. She said that she wants her daughter, Lilibet, to aspire to be slightly higher. And she hopes her kids will be known because they're smart and not because they look good.
"I want our daughter to aspire to be slightly higher. Yeah, I want my Lili to want to be educated and want to be smart and to pride herself on those things," she said (via Page Six).
