Who Is Jacen Syndulla?
Jacen Is Hera Syndulla's son and the youngest known member of the Ghost crew.
He's a human and Twi-lek hybrid with blue eyes and green hair.
However, since he's brown-haired in a Lego set of the Ghost, we aren't convinced that the green hair isn't Sabine Wren's doing.
After his appearance in the epilogue of Star Wars Rebels, Jacen finally returns in Ahsoka, though whether or not he and the titular character know each other well isn't specified.
Is There a Meaning Behind Jacen's Name?
The name itself doesn't hold a specific meaning but Dave Filoni has confirmed that the name was inspired by a now non-canon character from the extended Star Wars universe now known as Star Wars Legends.
The character in question is Jacen Solo who was Princess Leia and Han Solo's son. His first appearance is in Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy from which Ahsoka draws some inspiration.
It seems that Jacen Solo's (now non-canon) journey influenced that of Ben Solo/Kylo Ren as he was tempted by the dark side and came to be known as Darth Caedus.
In 2018, when Rebels concluded with Jacen's introduction, Filoni mentioned:
“It seemed, in a very small way, naming him ‘Jacen’ was a way to honor the expanded universe character of Jacen Solo who just really isn’t there anymore as the timelines have changed,” Filoni said.
“I thought that’s a little bit of a wink to people that I know that was an important character. And maybe, in some way, that lives on through this character. I don’t know yet.”
Hopefully, Jacen Syndulla won't meet the same fate.
How Old Is Jacen Syndulla?
Jacen Syndulla is around ten years old in Ahsoka. He briefly appeared in Rebels' epilogue as a younger child.
Ahsoka's timeline takes place about five years after Rebels' epilogue.
Is Jacen Syndulla Kanan's Son?
Yes. Kanan Jarrus and Hera Syndulla were in a long-term relationship in Star Wars Rebels although many things were left unsaid between them.
Kanan died in an operation to save Hera who had been taken captive by Thrawn's forces.
At that point, Hera probably didn't even know she was pregnant.
Kanan had been in contact with Force-sensitive wolf-deities who imparted information to him, so it's possible that he had sensed Jacen before Hera did, though he didn't survive long enough for this to be confirmed.
Is Jacen Syndulla Force Sensitive?
So far, Ahsoka hasn't confirmed whether Jacen is Force-sensitive. His father was a Jedi Knight before Order 66, so it's very likely that he's inherited Kanan's aptitude.
In episode 3 of Ahsoka, Jacen tells Hera that he wants to be a Jedi. His mother sadly replies that she knows.
Ahsoka Tano would likely be able to determine if he's Force-sensitive. Given that she has become the master of Sabine, who has no particular aptitude, she would most likely be able to teach Jacen either way.
However, this hasn't happened so far, either because Ahsoka doesn't stay anywhere long enough, or because Hera is reluctant.
