In the third episode of Hawkeye, Echoes, the childhood of Maya Lopez, a.k.a. Echo was shown ang it was revealed that she had the same childhood as normal kids only that she is deaf and she is an amputee. Despite all those, she excelled in fighting as seen in the sequence of a karate class she attended where it was shown that she reads the movements of her opponent before striking.

Directing duo Bert & Bertie revealed on TVLine where the superpowers of Echo come from, "Everything that she's learned in life comes from what we see as a disability… but that's the reason she kicks ass."

Bert & Bertie added that Alaqua Cox made the character her own, "It was like, 'Oh, that can actually add to the superhuman nature of Maya.' She's a hero. Alaqua is a real-life hero, and what she's overcome in her life is really mirrored in Maya's story."

It was her life experiences, after all, that made her a badass fighter and a formidable leader that she is to the Tracksuit mafia. While seeing Ronin is an opportunity for her to get revenge for her father’s death, it also drives her to be who she is right now, "It all became about revenge for her father's death. She spent her life driven by that moment when she loses him."

Bert & Bertie also teased that there is more to her story in the next episodes of Hawkeye wherein her relationship with Kazi gets expounded more, “The version of Maya we've seen has been born of losing her father, and she reacts to things very emotionally and very at the moment, whereas Kazi is a passionate, more level-headed character. Fra and Alaqua's dynamic throughout the show is dynamite, so you're going to see much more from there. There's a great Tracksuit story."

Kazi is her right-hand man, the only member of the Tracksuit mafia who communicates with her through ASL. The two seems to have a deeper understanding of each other compared to other members of the gang which could play a more pivotal line of storytelling.

It has been teased that the fifth episode of Hawkeye will be so massive that it will blow the whole Twitter crowd up. Whatever that episode holds would surely be an amazing story so as to ensure the social media blowing up.

Hawkeye exclusively streams on Disney Plus.
