The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers Season 2 will likely pick up where it left off in the first season. The team hits the road after their big win. In the second season, The Mighty Ducks will be attending an intense summer hockey instituted based in California. This gives them a chance to focus on hockey without worrying about their schoolwork.

Unfortunately for fans of the classic movies, Emilio Estevez will not be returning in The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers Season 2. It's hard to imagine Estevez not being part of the franchise since he has been the main protagonist since the 90s movies.

There were earlier reports that Estevez left the show over the COVID-19 protocols practiced by production. But in a statement to Deadline, Estevez debunked the rumor and pointed to a contract dispute. His exit was also due to some creative differences.

"I am not anti-vaxx. Full stop.I take this pandemic very seriously, and I am often teased about my continued following of the safety protocols and my abundance of caution. I want to address what transpired and clear up some falsehoods which appeared in an article regarding my decision to depart The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. In the final analysis, this was nothing more than a good old-fashioned contract dispute and not, as some would believe an anti-vaccine position.

"My exit from the show was due to a myriad of creative differences - any other narrative is false. To the fans of the franchise - I am as disappointed as you are. To my Ducks cast and crew - have a wonderful season 2 on the show and please know that I will miss you all. It was an honor and a thrill to be able to return as the iconic and beloved character, Gordon Bombay, a character which has been a celebrated benchmark in my 40-year career."

Taking over Estevez' role as Coach Gordon Bombay is Josh Duhamel, who will be joining the show for the first time. Duhamel plays the role of Colin Cole, a former NHL player-turned-coach. Disney+'s official synopsis for season 2 is: "As our Ducks try to survive in this super-competitive environment, they're faced with the question: Can you win summer?"
