If you think South Koreans are done making zombie films, think again!
Train to Busan's creator Yeon Sang Ho is working on his third Netflix Original series. This time around, Sang Ho is not venturing too far off his genre with a new zombie horror k-drama called The Bequeathed. Prior to this title, the project used to be called Family Gravesite.
Here's what we know about The Bequeathed:
The Bequeathed Release Date
As of this writing, The Bequeathed's status is officially in pre-production.
There has not yet been any news regarding the show's release date. If all goes well, we might expect the show to get a release sometime in 2024.
The Bequeathed Plot
Right now, we know very little of the plot details for the series. Han Cinema only released a small description of the series as:
"A work that depicts villagers turning into zombies with unknown symptoms."
Is The Bequeathed Part of Train to Busan?
Considering this project is highly similar to Seon Ho's Train to Busan, it's only logical that people will ask whether the two shows are related.
But right now, The Bequeathed has neither been confirmed nor denied to be part of the franchise. If Netflix chooses to advertise this show as a sequel or prequel, it could generate a lot of interest.
The Bequeathed Cast
As mentioned, this is Yeon Sang Ho's third Netflix Original horror series which he works as the writer and director. The other two shows are Train to Busan and Hellbound.
The latest news involving The Bequeathed reveal that only two actors have been cast in a role in the series. Kim Hyun Joo will be working with Yeon Sang Ho again in this zombie K-drama. Hyun Joo also starred in Hellbound.
The other actor confirmed to be part of The Bequeathed is Park Hee Soon. Their roles have not yet been disclosed.
