Ever since Reacher came out on Amazon Prime Video, it became an instant hit for the streaming service. And even months after the release, many are looking forward to Reacher Season 2.
The big question on everyone's mind these days isL when is Reacher Season 2 coming out on Amazon Prime Video? Here's what we know right now:
Will The Be A Reacher Season 2?
The good news is that Amazon Prime Video has renewed Reacher for a second season. The announcement was made on February 7, 2022, a few days after the first season was released.
The show is currently ongoing production. The lead actor, Alan Ritchson (who plays Jack Reacher) shared an update on his Instagram account. The actor revealed that Reacher Season 2 official started filming on September 23, 2022.
Thanks to the help of visual aids, the second season promises to be bigger than Season 1. If things go according to plan, the show could get released in Spring 2023.
On December 20, 2022, Amazon Studios' Head of Television, Vernon Sanders, was asked by Collider to give an update on the filming status of Reacher Season 2. Sanders responded that production was going smoothly:
"It's going really well. Alan is back, and he is so fantastic in the role. I'm so proud of the producers [for] finding that fit for Reacher. The Reacher fans of the book, their reaction to the show has just been a dream. Season 2 is awesome. And as great as season one was, I think season two delivers beyond that, and I do think there's a good chance that that show will be back next year."
On November 7, 2023, an official premiere date for Reacher Season 2 was announced. The second season will make its debut on Amazon Prime Video on December 15, 2023. A total of three episodes will be released on that date.
After that, a new episode will be released every Friday. The show's episode release guide will follow this schedule:

What Will Reacher Season 2 Be About?
Since Reacher is based on the Lee Child's Jack Reacher book series, there's plenty of source material to use for future seasons. The first season of Reacher covered the first book entitled Killing Floor.
Now that Reacher Season 2 has been confirmed, many are curious which book it will be following.
On May 18, 2022, Ritchson revealed on his Twitter account that the second season will cover the events that occurred in Bad Luck and Trouble.
The official description of Reacher Season 2 reads:
“Reacher Season 2 begins when veteran military police investigator Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) receives a coded message that the members of his former U.S. Army unit, the 110th MP Special Investigations, are being mysteriously and brutally murdered one by one. Pulled from his drifter lifestyle, Reacher reunites with three of his former teammates turned chosen family to investigate, including Frances Neagley (Maria Sten); Karla Dixon (Serinda Swan), a forensic accountant for whom Reacher has long had a soft spot; and fast-talking, switchblade-wielding family man David O’Donnell (Shaun Sipos). This is the eleventh book in the Jack Reacher book series. That's because show creator Nick Santora says the show doesn't follow the Jack Reacher books in a chronological order. We can expect future seasons to bounce around the books.
These books will follow the main character as he investigates the murders taking place in his old military police squad. And Reacher only has one thing in his mind: revenge!
Who Is In Reacher Season 2?
We know for sure that Ritchson will be back to reprise his role as Jack Reacher so that's the most we can confirm at this point. The books have a habit of introducing new characters again. And since the TV series promises to stay true to its source material, it's unlikely that we'll see other characters return.
As revealed by Deadline, Reacher Season 2 will bring back Maria Sten as Frances Neagley, an old squadmate of Reacher.
