A new comedy K-drama is coming to Netflix. If you loved Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, you'll likely enjoy Once Upon a Small Town too. For starters, the series stars Red Velvet's Joy. This light-hearted comedy will keep you laughing throughout the month of September once it gets released.

When Is Once Upon a Small Town Release Date?
The show, also known as Country Diary By Chance, Unexpected Country Diary, Eojjeodaga Jeonwonilgi, or Accidental Country Diary is directed by Kwon Seok Jang. He is famous for his work on Miss Korea, Avengers Social Club, and I Will Teach You Love.
Netflix recently confirmed that the show will be released on Monday, September 5th with a weekly episode release scheduled on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
There are a total of 12 episodes in the show. Each week, Netflix will release three episodes, which means that the show will commence on Wednesday, September 28th. Each of these episodes have a runtime of around 30 minutes.
Apart from Netflix, Once Upon a Small Town will also be available for streaming on KakaoTV on the same day.
Once Upon a Small Town Story: What Is It About?
Once Upon a Small Town is based on a web novel by Park Ha-min. The official synopsis reads:
"Han Ji Yool is a prickly man from Seoul who does everything by the book, and a veterinarian who gives up his city job to be with his grandfather. He finds country life in Heedong Village to be more difficult than expected, though things change when he meets the village's most reliable policewoman."
Han Ji Yool (played by Choo Yeong-Woo) receives an urgent phone call from his grandfather. Upon arriving at their village, he discovers that his grandfather is set to tour around Europe. And for the next six months, he is tasked to take after the clinic. There, he meets Ahn Ja Young (played by Joy), a trainee police officer who helps him out with the village.
It's a little reminiscent of Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, except for the little twists and changes from the original web novel.
Once Upon a Small Town Cast
Once Upon a Small Town stars Choo Young Woo and Joy. The two will be celebrating their debut in a Netflix Original series. Other than being a member of famous K-Pop Group, Red Velvet, Joy has starred in five other k-dramas since 2016. Among the list include The Liar and His Lover, The One and Only, and Tempted.
