For those who aren't really fond of these suspense-filled true crime shows, there are other more light-hearted, comedy options available like Only Murders in the Building.
There's also a new show coming out on Peacock, which takes satirizes this genre. And the best part is that it stars Kaley Cuoco.
Is Based On A True Story Real?
Peacock's new series, entitled Based On A True Story (yes, that is the title!), follows a couple obsessed with murder mysteries.
Just like Only Murders in the Building, the stars in Based On A True Story finds themselves involved in a real-life murder mystery as they are on the verge of something big.
What they fail to realize, however, is that there are dangers to being involved in such a crime.
But is the Peacock series, Based On A True Story, actually real? As explained by show creator Craig Rosenberg:
“I became fascinated with the idea of a relatable married couple whose youthful dreams hadn’t come to fruition and who saw the true crime tidal wave as an opportunity to change their lives and save their marriage. Our Los Angeles setting – the city where everybody wants to be famous – became a vivid backdrop to our story of fame, ambition, aspiration and murder.”
When Is Based On A True Story Coming Out on Peacock?
Based On A True Story will be making its debut on June 8th. The show will be available to stream exclusively on Peacock.
There are a total of eight episodes, which will be released at the same time. This means you don't have to wait a week to watch a new episode.
