It looks like we'll see the last battle between Michael Myers and Laurie Strode pretty soon! The iconic horror franchise, Halloween Ends, is coming to a close. This puts a cap on the trilogy that stemmed as a direct sequel to the 1978 Halloween movie.
If you're an avid fan of this franchise, you may have already watched Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills (2021). And with Halloween Ends, the three-part movie will come to an end.
Here's what we know about Halloween Ends at this time.
Halloween Ends Release Date: When is Halloween Ends Coming Out?
While Halloween Ends will be released in movie theaters on October 14th, the movie has also been revealed for a Peacock release as well. And what's even better is that the movie will be released on these two avenues on the same day.
This bit of information was actually confirmed by Laurie Strode aka Jamie Lee Curtis herself via Instagram. It actually isn't a huge surprise since the previous Halloween Kills movie was also released in the same manner in 2021.
What Is the Halloween Ends Story About?
As mentioned, Jamie Lee Curtis will be reprising her role in the iconic horror franchise for a final battle with a serial killer, Michael Myers. Curtis has played this character for more than four decades. Curtis said "I'm very proud of our final film Halloween Ends and how it brings the saga to a fitting conclusion."
According to director David Gordon Green, Halloween Ends is "a love letter to franchise creator John Carpenter."
This is actually the 13th movie to be part of the Halloween horror franchise. Despite this, Halloween Ends acts as the third movie that follows the continuity of the 2018 Halloween movie. The reboot ignores the other Halloween movies except for the original movie released in 1978.
In its YouTube trailer description, the official synopsis of Halloween Ends reads:
"Four years after the events of last year’s Halloween Kills, Laurie is living with her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) and is finishing writing her memoir. Michael Myers hasn’t been seen since. Laurie, after allowing the specter of Michael to determine and drive her reality for decades, has decided to liberate herself from fear and rage and embrace life. But when a young man, Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell; The Hardy Boys, Virgin River), is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to finally confront the evil she can’t control, once and for all. "
Even though Halloween Ends is the third installment in the franchise, it takes place four years after Halloween Kills. This gives a slight difference between the two films, which take place immediately after each other.
Who Is Part of the Halloween Ends Cast?
This is the last time Jamie Lee Curtis will return to the horror franchise as Laurie Strode. In an interview with People Magazine, Curtis said:
"The last shot [filmed] was [part of[ a night shoot and I was in a car–it was a close-up of me in the car. And when we got out of the car, it was 4:30 in the morning and there was the picture of my face on the screen. And I realized that was the last image of Laurie Strode after 44 years of portraying her. Isn't that amazing? And it felt very satisfying. I think people are going to lose their minds."
Other than Curtis, the other actors that are confirmed to be part of Halloween Ends include:
- Jamie Lee Curtis (as Laurie Strode)
- Andi Matichak (as Allyson)
- Will Patton (as Officer Hawkins)
- Nick Castle (as The Shape (Michael Myers))
- James Jude Courtney (as The Shape (Michael Myers))
- Kyle Richards (as Lindsey Wallace)
Is There a Halloween Ends Trailer?
Yes, Universal released the first official Halloween Ends trailer last July 20th.
The trailer gives the audience the perspective of Michael Myers as he wears his mask and approaches Laurie Strode. His archenemy tells him: "Come on. Let's go" while holding a gun.
The trailer then changes its view as the two battle it out until finally, Strode tells the serial killer: "Come and get me motherf**ker."
It'll definitely send goosebumps down your spine. Watch the trailer below and see for yourself:
Official Halloween Ends Photos
USA Today released an official photo of Laurie and Michael Myers battling each other. The photo shows the boogeyman trying to kill our favorite final girl using a knitting needle. This is a homage to the previous Halloween movie by John Carpenter where Laurie stabbed the serial killer with a similar knitting needle.
