It's a pretty busy year for talented actress, Emma Roberts. After American Horror Story, Roberts has just landed the lead role in an upcoming comedy called Hot Mess.
The movie will be showcased by Mister Smith Entertainment to the Cannes market. Hot Mess will be directed by Katie Locke O'Brien with a script written by Gabrielle D'Amico.
In addition to American Horror Story: Delicate, Roberts is working on a number of movies right now. These include Marvel's Madame Web and Frank Coraci's Verona Spies.
Roberts is also listed as the executive producer of Space Cadet, a romantic comedy. With Hot Mess added to that list, the 32-year-old is on a roll.

When Is Hot Mess Coming Out?
As of this writing, Hot Mess is in its pre-production status. As mentioned, Mister Smith Entertainment is launching the film's international sales at the Cannes market this month.
The movie is scheduled to start filming in early 2024. Given Roberts' current projects, the timeline for this movie makes sense for the actress to join.
What Is Hot Mess Movie Story About?
The official synopsis of Hot Mess reads:
“After imploding in the worst way possible on a wildly popular American dating show, Laurel Mack (Roberts) must do the ultimate walk of shame… back to her hometown. Having failed to win love on the show, Laurel finds herself living in her quirky parents’ basement, without any friends, constantly bumping into the miserable ex the whole town adores, and experiencing the constant mockery of all who witnessed her public meltdown. She embarks on a hilarious and heartfelt journey to discover self-love, and with that, real connections with others.”
The film is Locke O'Brien's directorial debut. She shares her excitement for the movie by saying:
