Prince Harry was not able to see his grandmother Queen Elizabeth while she was still alive. According to reports, the Duke of Sussex arrived in Balmoral hours after Her Majesty’s passing. And the only two people who were able to see the queen prior to her death were King Charles III and Princess Anne.

More specifically, Prince Harry found out that his grandmother had died just five minutes before the rest of the world read the reports.

A source told The Telegraph that Prince Harry wasn’t treated any differently than the other members of the royal family. And King Charles III only got a hold of his son much later because it was a difficult day, and he wasn’t always on his phone.

“Everybody was trying to get where they needed to be. That was the focus. And the King was adamant that the official statement must not be released until all members of the family had been informed. That was a father talking because he cares,” the source said.

According to Page Six, the Duke of Sussex found out that his grandmother passed away after seeing it in the news.

Initial reports claimed that King Charles III called Prince Harry to Scotland on the morning of Sept. 8. But this was countered by a palace source who claimed that no one from the royal family reached out to Meghan Markle’s husband to break the news to him.

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Reunited With The Royal Family Because It Was The Right Thing To Do

“I think that how Harry and Meghan showed up in the past few days shows they were only hoping to do the right thing and right by everyone,” the source said.

Prince Harry and Markle’s friend, Gayle King, also revealed that the Sussexes and the royal family both exerted an effort to mend fences. However, nothing has been officially resolved because the focus was on the queen.

“There have been efforts on both sides to sort of make this right. Big families always go through drama, always go through turmoil. It remains to be seen — are they going to be drawn closer together or are they going to be drawn apart? I have no inside information on that, but I will tell you this: It was good to see Harry standing with his family,” she told CBS Mornings (via Page Six).
