Queen Elizabeth rarely talked about her family’s issues. In fact, when reports swirled that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were feuding with Prince William and Kate Middleton, the late monarch stayed mum on the matter. But behind closed doors, she reportedly shared her real feelings with those close to her.
Queen Elizabeth Complained About Prince Harry And Meghan Markle’s Megxit To Her Friend
In Katie Nicholl’s book The New Royals: Queen Elizabeth’s Legacy and the Future of the Crown, the royal author shared details from the queen’s conversation with one of her friends. Prince Philip’s wife reportedly said that she was hurt and exhausted by the turmoil of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to quit The Firm.
“She was hurt,” she said. And she also told her friend, “I don’t know, I don’t care, and I don’t want to think about it anymore,” Nicholl wrote (via Page Six).
Queen Elizabeth Wanted To Spend More Time With Archie, Lilibet But Refused Official Photos From Being Taken
The royal author also claimed that one of the things that made the queen sad was the fact that she didn’t get to spend time with Archie and Lilibet as much as she would’ve wanted.
Her Majesty finally had the opportunity to meet Lilibet in June during her Platinum Jubilee. And a source told Radar Online that Prince Harry and Markle requested to have an official photo of the queen and Lilibet taken. However, the late monarch denied the request.
“Harry and Meghan begged for an official photo of the queen with Lillibet when the two finally met. The request was rejected by the palace,” the source said.
Prince Harry Released A Statement Following Queen Elizabeth’s Death
In his lengthy statement after the queen’s passing, Prince Harry revealed that one of the things that he will remember his grandmother by are the moments and hugs she shared with Archie and Lilibet.
“Granny, while this final parting brings us great sadness, I am forever grateful for all of our first meetings — from my earliest childhood memories with you, to meeting you for the first time as my commander-in-chief, to the first moment you met my darling wife and hugged your beloved great-grandchildren. I cherish these times shared with you, and the many other special moments in between. You are already sorely missed,” Prince Harry said.
Unfortunately, the two youngsters will not be able to make any more memories with their great-grandmother after she passed away on Sept. 8 at the age of 96.
