When Alaqua Cox made her debut as Maya Lopez aka Echo in Marvel's Hawkeye series, she didn't expect to see that she would almost immediately get to own her spotlight in an instant. But now that her titular series is coming to Disney Plus soon, here's a list of what Marvel movies and series to watch before Marvel's Echo comes out in January!
You'd be surprised to know that the watch list for the Echo series is a short one. Considering that this will be Echo's official MCU entry with a titular series, we know little about who she is and how she makes up the bigger world of the billion-dollar franchise.
So, without further ado, here's what you need to watch before Marvel's Echo:
Netflix's Daredevil Series
Although Disney Plus is the primary source for all things Marvel and Star Wars, Netflix made a Daredevil-centric story for their streaming service back in 2018.
Lawyer by day, Daredevil by night. Rated TV-MA, this would have come out differently if the Daredevil series came from the House of Mouse, instead.
The series ran for three seasons, focusing on Matt Murdock's origin story in Hell's Kitchen up until he faces his most formidable foe and main archnemesis, Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin.
While Echo didn't make an appearance in Daredevil, this shows more of who Kingpin is beyond being the adoptive father of Maya.
Not to mention, since Charlie Cox's Daredevil will be joining the Echo series, his appearance will likely be a big one, since he is speculated to become a love interest for Maya if the series goes the same path as Marvel Comics.
Echo would serve as Matt Murdock's official entry into the MCU franchise ahead of his reboot series, Daredevil: Born Again.

Marvel's Hawkeye Series
The first appearance of Echo came about in Marvel's Hawkeye series.
Haunted by his past as the vigilante Ronin, Clint Barton finally has to face the consequences of his previous actions at Echo's hands.
The official synopsis for the series says it all: "One year after the events of Avengers: Endgame, Clint Barton must partner with Kate Bishop to confront enemies from his past as the Ronin in order to get back to his family in time for Christmas."
This marks a small sneak peek of what Echo's superhuman abilities can reach, what she can do, and how she takes down her enemies. This also includes telling her origin story as she becomes a crucial hero in the MCU.
