At the end of Dragon Ball Super Chapter 87, a note confirms that a new arc for the manga series is coming, but unfortunately, publisher Shueisha hasn't shared the title of the next Dragon Ball Super arc or shared any teasers for it.

The note also said that the Dragon Ball Super manga series is "taking a breaking for a bit", so the monthly manga series is not releasing a new chapter in September 2022.

Based on what happened in the final chapter of Granolah the Survivor Saga (Chapter 87), Frieza will most likely be involved in the upcoming story. After he arrived in Planet Cereal to finish off Gas and Elec of the Heeter Force, he revealed to Goku and Vegeta that he was able to unlock a powerful new transformation he calls "Black Frieza".

Frieza's most powerful transformation was able to take down Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta easily, but the iconic villain decided not to finish them off because he came to Planet Cereal with a different target.

Before showing off his latest transformation, Frieza revealed that he's been spending time training on another dimension, a chamber where time flows differently. Known as "The Room of Spirit and Time", the mysterious room allowed Frieza to squeeze 10 years of training in just a short time, which explains why he's able to defeat Gas easily despite being the "Strongest Warrior in the Universe". The result of his 10 years of training is Black Frieza, and Goku and Vegeta are clearly nowhere close to his insane power level.

While it's possible that Goku, Vegeta, and other Z-Fighters will have to face off Black Frieza in the next arc of Dragon Ball Super, Shueisha hasn't officially confirmed that Frieza will be the main antagonist of the next arc. The powerful villain will have to cause a serious problem that would put Earth or the universe in danger to stir a conflict between him and the Saiyans, so we'll have to wait for the manga publisher to reveal plot details about the next Dragon Ball Super arc.

Dragon Ball Super Chapter 88 is expected to launch the next arc after Granolah the Survivor Saga, but Shueisha hasn't officially confirmed an exact release date yet. The manga is currently in a short hiatus, so a new chapter was not scheduled to release in September 2022.

However, fans won't have to wait for too long; Dragon Ball Super Chapter 88 is expected to release in October 2022, but some sources are reporting that the new chapter won't be released until December 2022.

Dragon Ball Super is taking center stage at New York Comic Con, so there's a chance that we will get an update for the next arc, but fans might have to wait until Jump Festa this December.
