In Rebel Moon Part 2, it is unveiled that Kora is the one behind Princess Issa’s death.

Orchestrated by her adopted father, Regent Balisarius, a coup against the royal family was executed.

In this coup, Kora was tasked with killing Princess Issa. Following the deaths of the king, queen, and princess, Balisarius framed Kora for the murder. But she managed to escape.

However, in her final moments, Princess Issa expressed forgiveness toward Kora.

In an interview, Sofia Boutella spoke about the sequence where Kora was forced to take Princess Issa’s life.

“It’s something that was very difficult for me to overcome—the forgiveness that I had to allow, me, Sofia, to have. As an actor, you have to be the advocate of your character, the lawyer of your character. I found it very hard to find the forgiveness. I couldn’t understand, but I had to put myself in those shoes,” Boutella said.

The actress added that Kora was “highly brainwashed and manipulated.”

Boutella also said that upon recognizing she had been manipulated, she descended into this unending spiral of guilt.

And she only found solace when she seized the chance to fight for the just cause.
