As Alina becomes a living Saint, the consequence of it is that others considered her as one conniving with the Darkling. Still, there are those who believe in her with all their heart and she and Mal found refuge in a ship led by a privateer, Sturmhond.

In Shadow and Bone Season 2, Sturmhond, a privateer, has his own private fleet in his own private ship and his services are available for those who can afford it.

His entry in Shadow and Bone Season 2 proves to be timely because Alina is on a quest to look for the other amplifiers: the Sea Whip and the Firebird.

Of course, it is confusing to differentiate it with a pirate. It's similar: they have a ship and a whole crew, but, as explained by Sturmhond, a privateer is one which is licensed to do business on sea with their own ship and crew for a fee.

The main difference is that a pirate is not licensed, an illegal way of trading, whether people or cargo. A privateer can do it in the legal way, with a license. The ship of Sturmhond has a mixture of people, Grishas and Otkazat’sya, alike.

Well, it turns out Sturmhond is actually the younger brother of the King, Moi Tsarevich Nikolai Lantsov, and he is interested in the mission of Alina to eradicate the fold and when his brother died, Nikolai was crowned as the king.

Now, the privateer that holds the ship of Nikolai is Mal Oretsev. He mentioned that the life of Sturmhond is what he wants to have -- free to do whatever he wants, free to go wherever he desires. Nikolai personally vested Mal the name of Sturmhond.

Shadow and Bone Season 2 is now available to stream on Netflix.
