In Tokyo Revengers Season 3 Episode 8 (Episode 45 in total), Hajime Koko’s backstory has finally been revealed.

Koko and Inupi have always been good friends. They are childhood friends who go to school and walk home together.

Inupi has a beautiful older sister named Akane, who is five years older than Koko. She has the same face as Inupi but is more gorgeous in Koko’s eyes.

Apparently, Koko has always loved Akane. He even asked Akane to marry him in the future, despite their age difference.

He used to accompany Akane wherever she went, including the library, where he first attempted to kiss her while sleeping.

He even volunteers to carry her belongings, as if he can take good care of her like a real man at such a young age.

During their time together, Akane always reminds Koko about falling in love with a good girl.

She wanted Koko to be with a nice girl who could take care of him and love him forever. She even told Inui that the only girl he can kiss is the woman he loves.

Unfortunately, a house fire tore Akane and Koko’s relationship apart. Koko managed to save Inupi in the belief that it was Akane.

They have similar looks, so it wasn’t impossible for Koko to confuse Inupi with Akane. This left Akane severely burned, which left Koko devastated.

Worse, the hospital demanded that Akane’s family provide 40 million yen for her hospital needs. Of course, they couldn’t gather such a large amount in time to save Akane.

In the end, Akane died, and Inupi survived. Since then, Koko has changed, but not for the better, for he has become involved with dangerous individuals like Taiju Shiba, Izana Kurokawa, and even the Haitani Brothers.

In addition, Koko was also traumatized, as he still carries the pain of losing Akane to this day. He sees Akane in Inupi, confusing fans into thinking that something is going on between the two of them.

Hajime Koko’s obsession with money stems from Akane’s hospitalization fees. Out of all the people who cared for Akane, Koko was the one who tried the hardest to gather the 40 million yen hospital fee.

He studied every book there is that tells how to make money, not to mention creating a band of thieves at such a young age. But no matter how hard Koko grinds for money, he can only earn so little.

This marks the beginning of Koko’s hunt for larger opportunities. By using the meager amount of money he saved from leading a group of young thieves, he got a fake credit card to establish connections.

In exchange for doing something for the wealthy, Koko makes money. Still, Koko failed to save Akane, as the latter died before he could gather the money.

Since then, Koko has been obsessed with money, and he sees himself as valuable only because of his talent to make money.
