There is little doubt that everyone was expecting another season of Westworld, which was set to be the final one for the sci-fi series that would round out the story of Delos' theme park hosts. So it's no surprise that people were outraged when HBO announced that the show would be cancelled after four seasons. Now fans are taking steps to make sure they get to see how Westworld ends as the showrunners have intended. A new petition is calling for the renewal of the show so it could finish with Season 5.
Earlier this week, people were shocked when it was announced that Westworld has been cancelled. HBO issued a statement thanking showrunners Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, as well as the cast and crew.
"Over the past four seasons, Lisa and Jonah have taken viewers on a mind-bending odyssey, raising the bar at every step. We are tremendously grateful to them, along with their immensely talented cast, producers and crew, and all of our partners at Kilter Films, Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television. It’s been a thrill to join them on this journey," the statement read.
Since then, fans have decided to take matters into their own hands. A new petition was started on Change.org and it calls for the renewal of Westworld for a fifth and final season. You can sign it here.
The petition points out that Joy and Nolan had always intended for Westworld to conclude in its fifth season and that the final season would round out the story that was started by Dolores Abernathy in the first season. Season 4 did end with a tease that there is more to look forward to in the future.
For now, HBO has yet to address the petition calling for Westworld's renewal. All episodes of the series are currently available on HBO Max.
