Wendy Williams has found herself at the center of controversies throughout the span of her career. Her long-running talk show, The Wendy Williams Show was officially canceled in June after 13 years on the air. However, the talk show host did not take part in the finale because she has been taking a break to focus on her health and other personal struggles.

Wendy Williams Reportedly Acted As Though She Forgot That Her Talk Show Has Been Canceled

This week, The Hollywood Reporter published a report about Wendy Williams and revealed that the host asked the executives of her former show why they had to cancel the program. But the problem was that they already explained their reason to Williams several times.

According to the report, Williams acted as though they were talking about the cancelation for the first time every single time she would ask the producers about their decision.

But this isn’t all. It was also revealed that Williams seemingly bargained with the executives so that she could continue appearing on television. After learning that Sherri Shephard had already taken over her 10 a.m. timeslot, Williams asked the execs if she would appear in the 11 a.m. timeslot.

Wendy Williams Allegedly Recorded An Episode The Wendy Williams Show While She Was Intoxicated

However, the executives said that they will only allow Williams to return if she can show them proof that she was healthy. Debmar-Mercury co-president Ira Bernstein said that they were hoping Williams would provide a fit-to-work certificate from her doctor but she didn’t.

Other insiders also claimed that they saw empty bottles of alcohol kept in strange places inside the studio. And there was also a time wherein the producers decided to pull a pre-recorded episode after realizing that Williams looked too intoxicated. As a result, they decided to just air an old episode.

Wendy Williams Freaked Out Some Of Her Staff Members During Their Zoom Meeting

Last year, Williams reportedly called her staff for a Zoom meeting and she tried to assure everyone that she was OK. However, this was far from what happened. An insider claimed that Williams was rambling throughout the entire meeting and they couldn’t understand what she was saying.

According to Lonnie Burstein, an executive at Debmar-Mercury, Williams’ three-minute speech freaked out some of the people who were listening to her.

“People were sort of freaked out. She was saying things like, ‘Oh, I can’t wait, I’ll be back with you really soon,’ but it was obvious to anyone watching that she was not going to be back really soon,” Burstein said (via Rolling Stone).

After learning about THR’s report on Williams, her spokesperson released a statement acknowledging that there’s some truth to the claims.

“It has been no secret that Wendy has battled with addiction over the years but at this time Wendy is on the road to recovery and healing herself from her chronic illnesses and her grievances of the past. What we do know is that Wendy has a history of chronic illness that she has publicly spoken about,” Shwan Zanotti said.

Williams’ new manager, William Shelby assured everyone that he was doing his best to help the talk show host.

“She’s an adult. I can’t lock her up in a house and say, ‘Don’t move, don’t even look out the window.’ This isn’t prison,” he said.
