Weeekly is ready to show their sides they never flaunted before!

For nearly two years, Weeekly already learned their weaknesses and turned them into strengths. As IST Entertainment’s first girl group since Apink’s debut more than a decade ago, the girl group seemingly started pushing themselves even more to follow their sunbae’s footsteps.

Ahead of the release of their first single album, Play Game: Awake, the group promised a bold transformation to achieve their new goal with their upcoming comeback.

Weeekly to Show Bold, Unstoppable Image Soon

As part of the promotion of their first single album, Weeekly held their online showcase where they revealed further details about their new concept.

According to leader Lee Soojin, all members adapted 180 degrees change to bid goodbye to their bubbly and youthful images. With that, she expressed her hope that their fans would look forward to what they prepared for them.

As for the real reason why they ditched their teen concepts, Jaehee explained how they want to showcase different sides of them during their promotions.

“We’re unraveling a story about a universe, and this is the phase of a big transformation. Since this matches up with that point of change, we want to receive responses like, ‘Weeekly adapts well to these kind of concepts too,’” she went on.

In comparison, their new title track offers a bold message – something that their past songs never highlighted as they all told stories relatable to teens. Lee Soojin then delivered the members’ hopes to become “playlist-dol” – a nickname that would prove they could suit any playlist.

Weeekly’s Extreme Preparations Revealed

Elsewhere in the conference, Weeekly members disclosed how hard it has been to prepare for the new project. Members Zoa and Lee Soojin particularly talked about the intense choreography they follow for Ven Para.

Per Zoa, YGX’s Yeojin made the dance steps for them. She noted that they used to have a hearty meal before practicing. But after learning the choreography, they decided to eat less or eat after practice instead.

“Since the choreography was so intense, my practice clothes ripped around two times. I was flustered because this was the first time this had happened, but since it’s also proof that I worked very hard, I felt proud,” she went on.
