Weeekly takes another step in reaching their goal this year.

Play M Entertainment waited for 10 years before debuting another girl group after Apink. Weeekly – a seven-membered group – is consist of Lee Soo Jin, Shin Ji Yoon, Monday, Park So-Eun, Lee Jae Hee, Jihan, and Zoa, and they officially debuted in June 2020.

So far, they have already dropped three extended plays and five singles. But their recent Play Game: AWAKE became the best project they have yet.

Weeekly Sets New Record With Play Game: AWAKE

Weeekly officially made a comeback on March 7, dropping their highly anticipated single album, Play Game: AWAKE, and its title track, Ven pera.

Hanteo Chart confirmed that the album reached 80,000 album sales in its first week, setting a new record for the girl group. The same album both the album sales record within two days and one week of its release.

Previously, Weeekly’s Play Game: Holiday held the record after selling 31,000 in its first week.

Meanwhile, the music video for Ven Pera also witnessed instant success, reaching 10 million views in three days and 20 million views after less than a week.

Weeekly Achieved Their Goal

Before establishing the new record, Weeekly held an online showcase where they pledged to show more of themselves in their new concept. At that time, leader Lee Soojin said all members adapted 180 degrees change to bid goodbye to their bubbly and youthful images. With that, she expressed her hope that their fans would look forward to what they prepared for them.

Meanwhile, they reportedly said goodbye to their teen concepts since they want to showcase different sides of them during their promotions.

“We’re unraveling a story about a universe, and this is the phase of a big transformation. Since this matches up with that point of change, we want to receive responses like, ‘Weeekly adapts well to these kinds of concepts too,’” Jaehee said.
