Watchmen’s Arrival in DC Universe May Be Explored in New Crossover

DC is finally progressing the previously teased appearance of the Watchmen universe into the DC Rebirth one. It had been the big ender in Geoff Johns' DC Universe: Rebirth #1.

Before, the only clue we had of this is Batman holding a bloody smiley button, the very same one that Watchmen fans know to be the signature of Alan Moore's masterpiece. Now in a new press release (via ComicsBeat), DC has confirmed that there will be a four-part story arc dubbed The Button.

"The two greatest detectives in the DC Universe unit to unravel the mystery behind a certain blood stained smiley face button stuck in the Batcave wall. However, what begins as a simple investigation soon turns deadly when the secrets of the button prove irresistible to an unwelcome third party—and it's not who anyone suspects! This is a mystery woven throughout time, and the countdown starts here!"

Specifically, this story arc will be explored in the #21 and #22 issues of Batman and The Flash respectively. Additionally, what the oneshot had hinted is that Dr. Manhattan is actually the mastermind in the change that have been happening to the universe since The New 52.

The two issues will be released sometime in late April and early May. Standard covers will be available for $2.99 and a special $3.99 lenticular cover care of Jason Fabok.
