Demon Slayer Reveals How Tanjiro Got His Scar

If you have been following the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime, there's a good chance you have noticed certain changes in the characters. For instance, Tanjiro Kamado started out with a light-colored scar that got bigger and has turned dark red after he became a Demon Slayer. But how did he get that scar in the first place? The truth has been revealed in the Entertainment District arc's Episode 6!

In Demon Slayer Season 2 Episode 13, Tanjiro continued fighting Daki who suddenly becomes stronger after being reunited with her obi. The demon's true form proved to be truly destructive as she destroys several houses while lashing out at a man who complained about the noise.

The destruction enrages Tanjiro, making him more eager to continue using Hinokami Kagura to stop Daki. As he concentrates on fighting, he then recalls a letter sent by Shinjuro Rengoku, who tells him Sun Breathing users are born with a red birthmark on their foreheads. However, Tanjiro points out that he was originally scarred on his forehead while trying to protect his younger brother from a falling brazier. The burn mark then changed after he got injured during the Final Selection.

It's interesting to know that Tanjiro was not born with the mark and that it was caused by an accident. However, it is also noted that the scar began to resemble the Sun Breathing user's mark only after he became a Demon Slayer. This makes Tanjiro unique for being the only possible Sun Breathing user who actually earned the mark.
