Warner Bros Reportedly Wants a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Movie Trilogy

Warner Brothers apparently wants Daniel Radcliffe to reprise his role in a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Trilogy, The New York Daily News reports. "Hollywood sources" say that Warner Bros is looking to have the play turned into a film trilogy as early as 2020. They want Daniel Radcliffe to star as Harry again, but he apparently hasn't jumped to accept the role.

"Warners is secretly working on getting the movie rights and a screenplay settled, and of course in their minds only one man should be Harry," the Daily News "insider source" claims. "However he has made it clear that his mind is certainly not focused on returning to the role anytime soon — and that could be until he hits 40."

Radcliffe has previously stated before that while he's grateful to the franchise and fans, he wants to keep his distance from Harry Potter for now and work on other things. The new film he's starring in, Imperium, debuts this week. It couldn't be further from his role as a boy wizard, as he's playing an FBI agent undercover with neo-nazis.

It's not at all surprising that Warner Brothers would want to make a Cursed Child trilogy. The play, which focuses on Harry Potter's son, Albus, and his strained relationship with his father, was wildly successful and the script sold gangbusters. However, it might be more appropriate if Radcliffe does wait until he hits 40 for the role. Radcliffe is 27 and Harry's in his late 30's in the play. They'd probably age him up with makeup and that was awkward enough in the last Deathly Hallows scene.

The Cursed Child movie was inevitable. I guess we'll just have to wait to see if it's any good. What do you think? Do you want a Cursed Child movie? Would you like to see Radcliffe as Harry again?
