Warner Bros. Discovery Is Reportedly Frustrated at the Progress of J.J. Abrams' DC Projects

J.J. Abrams has been working on several DC projects as part of his production company Bad Robot's overall deal with Warner Bros. However, we haven't heard a lot of updates regarding the development of the projects and now it looks like the new ownership under the newly-minted Warner Bros. Discovery is not happy about their lack of progress.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the management at Warner Bros. Discovery has been frustrated about the lack of progress on Abrams' DC projects since none of them has yet to get anything on the air. The report also indicated that the studio has seen the scripts for the Constantine HBO Max series and the pilot of Madame X.

Besides the aforementioned two projects, Abrams is also working on other DC projects such as Zatanna, the Justice League Dark series, Batman: Caped Crusader animated series, and the untitled Superman feature project penned by Ta-Nehisi Coates. As of now, all of them are still known to be in the development phase and neither is closer to being in the production stage.

This information came on the report regarding the latest development on Abrams' HBO series Demimonde which is currently in jeopardy after they proposed a budget north of $200 million and is not willing to make any reduction as Warner Bros. Discovery is trying to cut down their spending around $3 billion. A final decision on whether the project will move forward is expected to be made this week.

It would be interesting to see what kind of decision will Warner Bros. Discovery make regarding the DC projects that Abrams is currently handling whether some of them will make it to production or be canceled due to the costs that they are spending on the development phase. While Abrams' overall deal is not expected to be impacted, some of the projects might be in danger.
