DCEU's Aquaman has been a hot topic in news headlines due to Amber Heard's defamation trial against Johnny Depp. While a few days only remain until the jury reaches a final decision on the case, more details behind DC's highest-grossing film Aquaman were constantly being brought to light.
One of Heard's most controversial claims is how her current situation has affected her recent outing in the Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom which was disproved by DC boss Walter Hamada who admitted that Heard's screentime was just only decreased.
Now, more recently, Depp revealed a shocking revelation about how he actually helped Heard land the Aquaman role.
During the controversial defamation trial of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, Depp recalled the time when he assisted Heard to secure her role as Mera in the 2018's Aquaman.
When questioned what he remember when Heard auditioned for the film, Depp responded, “After Ms. Heard’s audition, or possibly auditions, for Warner Bros. and, I suppose, the creative team, Ms. Heard expressed to me that… Warner Bros. had that said that the film was going to be shooting in Australia. And Australia was a, for Ms. Heard, that was a potential problem…”
“I was informed by Ms. Heard that the film was going to be shooting in Australia and that was of concern to her because… it was of concern to Warner Bros. So she asked if I would, because… for a few years I had had a multi-year deal with Warner Bros. so we’d been in business together so I knew these people. I’d been on films with them… She asked me if I would speak to them. I made a phone call and I spoke to… the three upper echelon… Warner executives, Kevin Sujihara, Sue Kroll, and Greg [Silverman]," Depp added.
When asked what happened next after Depp’s conversation with Warner Bros., “I can only say that ultimately she did get the job in the film, so hopefully I suppose had curbed their worries to some degree," the actor replied.
Considering Johnny Depp's long prestigious career, it's no longer surprising how the actor established ties with massive companies like Warner Bros. especially after collaborating on projects like Black Mass and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Given the month-long defamation case, this piece of information about how Depp helped Heard land the Aquaman role was the first time ever being brought up in the trial, which the actor might have been holding considering that the Aquaman film was mentioned a thousand times during the trial.
For now, Amber Heard's involvement in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom still remains the big question, and will just unfold when the sequel hit theaters on March 17, 2023.
