Hope’s (Annette O’Toole) near-fatal car accident will trigger a major transformation in the town mayor’s life. She will be back on Virgin River Season 5, and according to the actress herself, there’s something to look forward to about how her character will evolve.
Finding Her Way Back
Hope returned in Virgin River Season 3 after the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic caused her to be notably missing, and she is a far more intriguing character now than she was before. We all know that Hope spent a significant portion of Season 4 attempting to find her way back to herself after suffering a traumatic brain injury in a car accident.
She did find some comfort in Doc (Tim Matheson), but she ultimately found an odd ally elsewhere. Hope is confided in and felt most understood by Muriel (Teryl Rothery), who has frequently been her adversary during her recuperation.
Virgin River Season 5 Will See Hope Go Through a Major Transformation
Hope is about to undergo yet another transition in Virgin River Season 5 now that she is further along in her recovery.
“I would like to see her — and I believe this is going to happen — be more of a mayor, be more involved in her work,” O’Toole told The List. “We see her walking around, showing up, and she can go anywhere.”
Given the current political climate, O'Toole believes Hope will become more involved.
“I would like to see what she does. What is that like? On a local level, that political scene, especially in our country right now [with] what’s going on, we have to start,” she said. “The mayor, the legislators, the town council meeting — those things are hugely important, and that’s where we have to focus a lot of our political energy. That’s where she is. We have a good opportunity to go into that with Hope. That’s my main hope.”
