Ichigo had a final battle against Aizen Sosuke wherein he lost his Shinigami powers. Now powerless, he didn't have anything to offer, so his friends took the responsibility of protecting Karakura Town from Hollows. In return, Ichigo decided to take odd jobs to earn money.
Ichigo then met Xcution, a secret organization that was led by Kugo Ginjo. He knew Ichigo’s past and wanted the protagonist to acquire a new power called Fullbring, which other spiritually aware humans like Chad and Orihime also possessed.

Ichigo accepted and trained hard to master his Fullbring. What Ichigo didn’t know was that Ginjo was actually the reason behind Uryu’s assault, which caused the latter to be out of commission after a mysterious villain attacked him.
Ichigo discovered that Ginjo was not actually there to help him but to acquire his powers.
Of course, Ichigo can’t win against the Fullbringers on his own, so his friends from the Gotei 13 came to the human world to assist him.
Ichigo received a new glowing sword that holds the spiritual powers of seven Shinigami, eventually restoring his own powers.
Ichigo and his friends fight the Fullbringers before facing a thousand-year-old enemy, which will take place in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War.
