Twenty Five Twenty One caused several buzzes following the release of its final episode.

Viewers who have watched the 16-part series were left clueless about several scenes in the K-drama. For instance, they have been debating who Kim Minchae’s father is since there have been clues that Baek Yi Jin is not related to him in any way.

Some insist that Baek Yi Jin is her father, adding more confusion to the drama.

But aside from that part, internet users recently expressed their dismay as one scene in Twenty Five Twenty One showed the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the background.

Twenty Five Twenty One tells the love story between Kim Tae Ri’s Na Hee Do and Nam Joo Hyuk’s Baek Yi Jin. They grow up to become fencing medalist and news reporter, respectively.

The Saturday’s episode of the series focuses on their dating life as they try to work on their respective careers. Toward the end of the episode, Baek Yi Jin is sent to New York to report the September 11 attack, and their long-distance relationship affect their feelings eventually.

While the episode broke people’s hearts, one scene shocked them even more as the drama used a clip of the tragic attack as the backdrop for their love story. Viewers explained that Twenty Five Twenty One romanticized the tragedy as Na Hee Do laughs when she sees Baek Yi Jin reporting the attack and the reporter calls her to tell her that he dressed up during the coverage to look presentable for her.

According to the viewers, the writer and the production team just became inconsiderate as it remains a traumatic experience for the family. They also said that using it to portray Na Hee Do and Baek Yi Jin’s struggling relationship was disrespectful to the victims.

One user said, as quoted by The Korea Times:

"9/11 was such a globally shocking incident. How could they use it like that? ... It is such a horrifying attack that cost the lives of those on the plane, in the building. Even though it is another country's tragedy, it should still not be taken lightly and be used to make heart-fluttering scenes. It was a very inconsiderate move, especially as the series is being streamed globally through Netflix."

The K-drama team is yet to address the issue.
