Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu just premiered on Funimation, styled as Irina: The Vampire Cosmonaut. While Episode 1 didn't do anything we haven't seen before in some form, it decently combined vampires - at a time during which people's understanding of them was limited to Dracula and early 20th century films - and the desire to go to the moon; all with a Cold War alternative universe as the background.

Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu or Irina: The Vampire Cosmonaut is a show you might enjoy if MARS RED was just your cup of tea. The military, sci-fi aesthetic is juxtaposed with vampire lore we think we know too well, only for our expectations to be upset.
In 1960, the leader of Zirnitra - an alternative Russia - announces an ambitious project; the first manned space flight program. Lev Leps, a substitute astronaut with little chance of going to space anytime soon, is tasked with training Irina Luminesk, a vampire, and prepare her to go to space.
Before finding out that Irina can eat the same meals as himself, and can only be weakened by sunlight, rather than killed - not to mention that she's immune to religious symbols - Lev is afraid of her. Despite that, he's mostly happy to act like a decent human being around Irina, although he's discouraged from doing so.
Due to past failures, those who are part of the mission are urged to consider those sent to space as objects, rather than subjects. Lev isn't planning on following that order to the letter, but this, and his failure to defend Irina from his coworkers' bullying, don't exactly help Irina trust him.
Irina herself is surrounded by mystery in this episode, even as we learn more about her. She is the title character, and different from the cinematic vampires we're used to, but the premier was from Lev's viewpoint, so we can only look forward to finding out her own.
