MARS RED might not be the most popular anime of the Spring 2021 season, but it's making history by being one of the few to be based on a stage reading play later turned manga. The 12-episode show features a unique combination of metatextual drama, a 1920s setting, and of course, vampires.
In this interesting, artistically sound project by Signal.MD, Colonel Maeda might have survived the war, but his life changes forever when he's asked to tackle a vampire problem in Japan. At his disposal, he has a secret unit manned by vampires who hunt their own - but nothing is as it seems. There are a lot of intrigues involved, and a lot more drama than you would expect from such a brutal premise.

Is MARS RED on Netflix?
MARS RED isn't on Netflix for the time being. On Netflix, you're most likely to find anime shows that have at least one completed season, at least in the US and Europe. It's not by chance that Netflix is the platform we most often associate with binge-watching shows. This doesn't exclude the possibility of MARS RED making it to Netflix later on - meanwhile, you have other anime options on this platform.
Beastars Season 2 has finished airing on Netflix Japan. The time for it to hit our screens used to feel too far away, but not anymore: the show will come to American Netflix this July. Shaman King (2021) is currently ongoing on Netflix Japan, so it could also appear on your Netflix at some point soon.
Is MARS RED on Hulu?
Unfortunately, MARS RED isn't on Hulu. However, the popular streaming platform has a decent anime library, so you have a lot of alternative options. If you are looking for vampire content, in particular, Shiki is your best bet as far as Hulu is concerned.
Is MARS RED on Crunchyroll?
As of May 2021, MARS RED isn't a part of Crunchyroll. But if Crunchyroll is your preferred anime platform, you have other interesting choices this Season. To Your Eternity is a very emotional supernatural anime, while if you're into works that lean towards science fiction, 86 might be for you.
Is MARS REDon Funimation?
MARS RED can only be streamed by Funimation users as of May 2021. Those with a premium account can watch the newest episodes upon the release date. If you're streaming for free, you will have to wait a bit longer, but unlike the more unpredictable Crunchyroll, Funimation dedicatedly makes episodes free for all (with ads) a week after the original release.
You can watch MARS RED on Funimation other with subtitles or in dub. And in such a theatrical work, the voice acting is one of the show's main strengths - so why not both?
