Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu is based on a light novel written by Masano Keisuke and illustrated by Karei, and it offers a twist to the space travel story.
The anime has been made by the relatively new studio Arvo Animation and the voice cast includes Hayashibara Megumi (also the voice of Anna in the 2021 Shaman King), Uchiyama Kouki, and Komatsu Mikako, among others.

In an alternative universe, the Federal Republic of Zirnitra in the East and the United Kingdom or Arnack in the West, are rivals, both aiming for the sky and beyond. In 1960, the leader of Zirnitra announces an ambitious project; the first manned space flight program. Lev Leps, a substitute astronaut is tasked with training Irina Luminesk, a vampire who was previously experimented upon and prepare her to go to space.
