Tom Hardy Confirms Venom 3 Is Now Currently in Development

Sony Pictures greenlit a third Venom movie installment last year after it received great audience reviews, and now, Venom star Tom Hardy shared a promising update on Venom 3.

Hardy revealed on his Instagram that Sony Pictures is currently in pre-production for Venom 3. Check out his Insta post below, with the caption: “Whilst working on [Venom 3] pre-prep @lelping @sonypictures @sony @venommovie this throwback came up #cuttingroomfloor #byetom #thankstom”. Included in the Insta post is a new deleted scene from 2018’s Venom where Eddie Brock and the titular symbiote arguing on their way to the hospital.

To recap, Venom first made his movie appearance in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 (2007) where Eddie Brock was portrayed by Topher Grace. It was only in 2018’s Venom that the symbiote officially had his own solo film from Sony Pictures where he was shown from his origins to becoming one with the current Eddie Brock, now portrayed by Tom Hardy.

Seeing how well 2018’s Venom and its sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage at the box office (with Venom 2 earning $90 million on its debut, which is $10 million more than the original Venom, and a $506M total worldwide, declaring Let There Be Carnage a strong pandemic success for the studio), a Venom 3 is most likely here to grab another box office success for the company.

While there is no official news yet on the plot synopsis Venom 3 will feature, there’s a slight possibility this is going to build Tom Holland’s Spider-Man future into the MCU, especially with the existence and expansion of the MCU with the multiverse.

For now though, we'll have to wait and keep a look out on more details on this story. According to IMDb, Venom 3 is speculated to be about “Eddie Brock trying to find Spider-Man when Venom gets attacked by Toxin and The Hobgoblin followers.”
