To Your Eternity Episode 11 Recap
To Your Eternity is adapting an award-winning manga series written and illustrated by Yoshitoki Oima, who is also the author of A Silent Voice. In it, we follow the story of a mysterious immortal being who first comes to the earth nameless and emotionless. The being, who comes to be known as Fushi can take any form but starts with no identity and becomes increasingly human through stimulation.
Warning: If you have yet to watch To Your Eternity Episode 11 you might want to skip to the next section as there will be spoilers below.
Fushi and Gugu, now adolescents, still live happily with Beer Man and Pioran. Rean visits often, but as she approaches 16, she knows her parents will marry her off to a stranger soon. Gugu's older brother returns, having repented for abandoning Gugu, but the boy refuses to leave his found family and go with him. Before he goes, Gugu's brother gives him back Rean's ring. Seeing it, Rean recognises Gugu as the boy who saved her dog four years ago.
Rean realises she is in love with Gugu and hopes to present him as the boy she loves in order to cancel her betrothal, but they are both hilariously bad at communicating, so little comes out of it. Gugu and Fushi then go to her house for her birthday party, and Gugu brings her a purple flower from the cliff where he got hit by a log to save her.
Everyone criticizes Gugu for bringing her a flower they associate with a traumatic event for Rean, but she cherises it. Leaving her betrothed behind, she runs to the balcony where Gugu is standing alone, and tells him she understands it was him who saved her. Just as they are about to share a romantic moment, however, half the balcony gives away, and Gugu falls, just as Fushi realises that the creature hunting him has returned.
Has Gugu survived? It would be particularly cruel if he died now, and Episode 12 can't come soon enough!
