This Star Wars Shot Comparison Shows How 'A New Hope' and 'The Force Awakens' Are Similar

A lot of scenes in Star Wars: The Force Awakens were undoubtedly references to A New Hope. Most fans probably would have pinpointed which scenes were the same from their first time of watching the film.

Well, a new video created by Vimeo user Zachary Antell has successfully highlighted all the scenes in The Force Awakens that are similar to A New Hope by placing the two films back to back. The final result? Very interesting.

The storyline of The Force Awakens had been criticized by many fans as being too similar to A New Hope. The new video stresses this fact and probably hints on the possible storyline of future Star Wars films.

Check out the awesome video below:

The similarities are quite a handful – the orphaned protagonist living on a desert planet, a droid holding major plans against the bad guys, protagonist with a knack for machines goes on an adventure to save the Rebellion.

It’s interesting seeing a scene of Poe Dameron beside Leia Organa in the video. It means that this theory about Leia could be true.

There might be a lot of references to A New Hope in The Force Awakens, but I can’t shake off the feeling that Episode VIII may has a lot more to offer that will completely be different from the past. It has been 30 years after all, and the creators are bound to come up with something more unique than what’s already been laid out by George Lucas from the first Star Wars film.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be available on Digital HD on April 1 and on Blu-ray / DVD on April 5.
