Fans are getting one last chance to watch Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher Season 3 and it looks like we'll get to see the White Wolf in Full Dad Mode. The Justice League actor discussed how Geralt takes on fatherhood as his bond with Ciri grows stronger in the third season.
Henry Cavill Discusses Geralt Taking On Fatherhood in The Witcher Season 3
Henry Cavill recently spoke to Netflix Tudum to promote The Witcher Season 3 and he confirmed that Geralt has finally become a true family man. According to Cavill, Geralt takes to fatherhood “like a fish to water.”
“It’s quite lovely to see that underneath this cynical, acerbic, walls-up kind of nature is actually a very loving core,” he said.
Interestingly, Geralt's relationship with Ciri isn't the only thing that has changed. Cavill also confirmed that things are different between Geralt and Yennefer as well.
“With Yennefer, it becomes a love rather than a dalliance,” he said. Co-star Anya Chalotra agrees, saying, “They’re stronger now. Stronger now than ever before.”
Granted, Yennefer will also begin to bond with Ciri in The Witcher Season 3. Chalotra says Yennefer finally steps into a nurturing and maternal role in the family unit.
“She’s struck by this newfound family. She always wanted to become a mother,” Chalotra said. Still, it's not going to be easy for Yen.
“Yennefer and Ciri is altogether something new. These feelings towards her are deep and strong, and come as a surprise,” she added.
“She went into this relationship for herself and in it found a purpose beyond anything she’s set her heart on before. She cares deeply about something bigger than herself for the first time,” Chalotra said.
The Witcher Season 3 will bring back Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, and Freya Allan. The third season will be the final one for Cavill who has stepped down from the lead role. Hunger Games actor Liam Hemsworth will take over as Geralt in the fifth season.
The Witcher Season 3, Volume 1 premieres on Netflix on June 29, 2023.
