The Walking Dead's Nic & Norman's Restaurant is a Passion Project of Namesakes

There has been a number of things spun off from The Walking Dead. There's the after-show that airs following the TV episode, Talking Dead. There's also the Fear the Walking Dead series, which deals with the same issue of post-apocalyptic world gone worse with zombies.

We've also seen numerous merchandise, and even the franchise-necessary games, like Telltale Games' newest announcement for the third season of its game.

Beyond the official merchandise, those within the cast and crew also have their own pursuits. The latest involves Nic & Norman's, a Senoia restaurant inspired by the series and a passion project for, you guess by the name, executive producer Greg Nicotero and Daryl Dixon actor Norman Reedus.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the duo reported that the idea of a restaurant started out as a joke between them. The point was to have a sort of hang-out place after filming, where they can just enjoy the casual meaning of wine and dine.

"We pictured it just being a dive bar for everyone working on the show, and maybe we get some word of mouth around town so others would start showing up. Then, suddenly, a restaurant was happening."

The restaurant and the space that they're using for it came by chance. And even though the names of these two were on the welcoming sign of the restaurant, there are also some more partners involved, including executive producer and series creator Robert Kirkman and another EP Dave Alpert.

Nic & Norman's follows the footsteps of other endeavors outside of the merchandise's direct dealings with zombies. There's already The Walking Dead Café and Woodbury Shoppe, which sells souvenirs.

The restaurateurs have shown time and again that what they serve at the restaurant is something of great quality. Apart from drawing a good crowd, its affiliation to The Walking Dead franchise gives it a good standing, but the duo are actually more optimistic. If anything, they are looking to extend consumerism beyond what the show offers and even after the show is over.
