The Walking Dead Actors May Be Among the Lowest Paid

AMC's The Walking Dead may still be one of the most-watched series despite rather alarming dips in numbers in season 7. However, the same can't be said for its actors, at least when comparing their salaries with other top-billing series in its niche and scale.

According to a new report from Uproxx, lead actors Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus, who play the leader and his right-hand man Rick Grimes and Daryl Dixon, actually just a little over £100,000 per episode.

When compared to other TV shows in the US, this amount is far less, especially when The Walking Dead has been AMC's main breadwinner as far as reaping viewers and profit goes.

There's a report that the low salary may be due to the number of actors in the show. The cast has expanded considerably even with a number of the cast getting written off throughout its run. Of course, it can easily be compared to Game of Thrones, who has a similar approach to having a big cast with choice central ones that are integral to the story.

Further speculation leads to the possibility that The Walking Dead can easily kill off cast members than to cave in to salary changes. The last word on this appears to be that the showrunners and execs have finally seen the need for the raise, though details for each renewed contract aren't divulged.

The Walking Dead has seen a very strong, particularly for its earlier episodes back during its premiere in 2010. However, if we're talking about dispensability, I don't think it's limited to the characters, but the actual show itself.

The slow but steady decline proved that viewers want more than what's been offered during The Walking Dead season 7. There have been more ups than downs per episode, and if they aren't able to pick up the pace and action in the second half, then his downward spiral may become the series' next big problem.

The Walking Dead will return in February on AMC.
