As one of the most awaited films of the year, unanimous praise is given to The Suicide Squad as the first set of reviews lands it on the top spot and it received a rare perfect score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes as the standalone film takes on a new perspective on Task Force X, totally rebranding the group of cons coming together for a challenging mission.
Rotten Tomatoes released an announcement on Twitter showing that The Suicide Squad landed a fresh score of a perfect rating, so far, with the 43 reviews it currently has. It's rare that a film gets a 100% score on the first reviews and even having additional 3 ratings, it remained on the same rating, seemingly showing how amazing the film would really be.
The Suicide Squad will be taking Task Force X on a mission in Corto Maltese looking for a Nazi-era prison lab and they would be facing Starro, a giant telepathic starfish. It was also revealed by none other than the writer and director of the film, James Gunn, that fans should not get too attached to the characters as some of them would die in the process, even pointing out that two of those got him teary-eyed.
The film was intentionally made for an IMAX screen with the use of cameras meant for it and tickets are already on sale weeks before its premiere. The Suicide Squad is scheduled for a limited theatrical release on August 6, 2021. It will also be available on the same day on HBO Max.
