James Gunn's The Suicide Squad will feature some of the most obscure characters you'll ever see in a comic book film and one of them is a character by the name of Ratcatcher II, played by Daniel Melchior.

Of course, judging by her name, Ratcatcher II has the ability to communicate with rats, and given the fact that she'll appear in multiple scenes throughout the film, it's safe to say that we'll see tons of rodents as well.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! along with stars John Cena and Margot Robbie, Gunn revealed that they used two actual rats in the film plus 300,000 animated ones. Hilariously, one of the rats that star in the film was hilariously named after his good friend and Guardians of the Galaxy actor Chris Pratt.

Gunn says: "We have a couple of good actors, we have a rat by the name of Jaws that we worked with a lot. And then a rat by the name of Crisp Rat, who is named after my friend Chris Pratt. They were our two main active rats that played Sebastian the rat in the movie. And then we have about 300,000 other rats."

So far, The Suicide Squad is already getting rave reviews from critics ahead of its theatrical and streaming release next month. Of course, it's still the fans who will get to decide whether or not the film deserves all of the praise it's been getting but by the looks of things, James Gunn may have actually replicated his MCU magic over at DC.

I've said countless times in the past that if there's one filmmaker capable of turning D-list characters into compelling superheroes, it's gotta be Gunn.

The Suicide Squad hits cinemas and HBO Max on August 5.
