The Sandman: Neil Gaiman Wants a Joanna Constantine Spin-off Starring Jenna Coleman

One of the interesting things about Netflix's The Sandman was the numerous changes that were made in the series. For instance, we got to meet a different and equally charming version of John Constantine who was played by former Doctor Who star Jenna Coleman. Not surprisingly, people loved Joanna Constantine and have started wondering whether the character will get her own spin-off, and as expected, Neil Gaiman is loving the idea.

In The Sandman Episode 3, Morpheus tracks down Joanna Constantine, an exorcist who has procured his pouch of sand. Constantine reveals that she had left the pouch with her ex-girlfriend who had become addicted to the effects of the sand. Jenna Coleman later returns in the sixth episode as Constantine's ancestor Lady Johanna.

These two characters played by Coleman only appeared in two episodes but those appearances were enough to inspire fans who began sharing their hopes for a Lady Johanna/Joanna Constantine spin-off show. One fan reached out to Neil Gaiman, who enthusiastically supported the idea.

We're loving the idea of a Sandman spin-off about Joanna Constantine since it's the perfect excuse to see Jenna Coleman in action all over again. However, there are also speculations that a John Constantine show is in development at HBO Max so it's unlikely that a spin-off could get the greenlight. Still, we won't be surprised if The Sandman gets a few spin-offs in the future.

The Sandman finally started streaming on Netflix on August 5 and it was well worth the wait. The project had been stuck in production hell for several decades and Neil Gaiman finally found the right team to bring his works to life. Needless to say, we are loving every episode of the series and we're now waiting for the second season to be announced.

All 10 episodes of The Sandman are now streaming on Netflix.
