The Sandman: Neil Gaiman Shuts Down Hopes for More Bonus Episodes

In case you missed it, a new episode of The Sandman was dropped last Friday, much to the delight of fans around the world. The two-part special followed two of the best-known stories from the comic books and has led to speculations that there will be more new episodes in the future.

However, it looks like fans shouldn't hold their breath for an update. Neil Gaiman has just confirmed that there will be no new episodes of The Sandman, at least until the series is renewed.

A fan recently reached out to Neil Gaiman on Twitter in hopes that the first season of The Sandman will get a 12th episode. The American Gods author has since retweeted the post with some unfortunate news.

"I wish. No, that’s all we’ve made so far," Gaiman wrote.

This is disheartening news considering that fans are looking forward to seeing a new episode next week or the week after. Still, there is still hope that The Sandman will be renewed and we can get new stories from the Dreaming.

The Sandman Episode 11 was released on Netflix on Friday and it opens with the story of a Siamese cat who tells a gathering of other felines about her meeting with Morpheus. The second tale follows a writer who imprisons the muse Calliope to gain access to her ideas for his own novel. Both stories are based on tales from the comic's Dream Country storyline.

For now, Netflix has not yet announced whether The Sandman has been renewed for a second season. Still, Neil Gaiman has made it clear that he is eager to continue working on the series and already has plans for Season 2.

All episodes of The Sandman, including A Dream of a Thousand Cats/Calliope, are now streaming on Netflix.
