The Sandman Drops Surprise New Episode Featuring Neil Gaiman

The Sandman has an awesome surprise for fans who have been wondering when we'll be getting new content. A new two-part episode has just been dropped on Netflix, and it happens to feature a cool cameo from Neil Gaiman himself!

On Friday, August 19, The Sandman added a new episode titled A Dream of a Thousand Cats/Calliope. The first part of the episode is an animated adaptation of The Sandman Volume 2 #18 where a Siamese cat shares her dream with a gathering of numerous felines. Meanwhile, the second part is based on Calliope, the story of a writer who is presented with the legendary muse to help him write his new novel.

Both tales are from The Sandman's Dream Country storyline that was released back in 1990. The new episode, which counts as the show's 11th episode, could be the first of many that will come in the future.

A Dream of a Thousand Cats/Calliope brings back several familiar faces we have already seen in the previous episodes of The Sandman like the Three and Tom Sturridge's Dream. However, the coolest cameo is undoubtedly that of Neil Gaiman, who voiced the Crow who directs the Siamese cat to the cave where she finds the Cat of Dreams.

For now, it is unclear whether there will be more new episodes being dropped soon. However, there are hopes that more stories from Dream Country will be adapted by the Netflix show. In the meantime, fans are waiting for The Sandman Season 2.

As of writing, The Sandman Season 2 has not yet been officially announced. However, Neil Gaiman has stated that he is looking for ways for Netflix to renew the series.

All episodes, including A Dream of a Thousand Cats/Calliope, are now streaming on Netflix.
