Heads up, anime fans! Crunchyroll just announced that The Rising of the Shield Hero will be having an English dubbed version as they unveiled the release date and voice cast for the isekai series that is currently making their own way through the second season.
Crunchyroll made a huge announcement for the fans of one of the most loves isekai anime series for the spring season 2022, The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 will be having its English dub release on May 4, 2022 at 5 PM EST.
There would also be some changes for the voice cast of the English dubbed version of The Rising of the Shield Hero with Billy Kametz, who voiced Naofumi Iwatani in the first season, taking a break from the industry last month following his life updates for his fans as he was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. In lieu of his absence during treatment, Stephen Fu will be voicing Naofumi.
Other cast include Erica Mendez as Raphtalia, Brianna Knickerbocker as Filo, Dawn M. Bennett as Éclair Seaetto, Sean Chiplock as Kyo Ethnina, and Amber Lee Connors as Ost Horai. Steve Stanley is the one on the director’s chair for the English dubbed version.
The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 follows the story of Naofumi who promised to continue to fight upon learning that the other nations are fighting through the Calamity Waves. However, before he could start, he learned that the huge Spirit Tortoise is free which may destroy the world. Naofumi gathers Raphalita and Filo to find out how to stop the rampaging monster.
The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 is based on the dark fantasy isekai light novel series of Aneko Yusagi and Seira Minami. Media Factory published the series which expanded the story. It also has a manga adaptation by Aiya Kyū published by the same publisher and to date, there are already twenty volumes. Both are in North America through One Piece Books.
The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 English dub will be released on May 4, 2022 on Crunchyroll.
