Filo, the cutest filolial from The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2, has returned to grab our hearts this spring anime season! Filo continues to train hard with her master, Naofumi, and her onee-chan Raphtalia since she is destined to succeed Fitoria as the next Filolial Queen. Who is Filo in The Rising of the Shield Hero?
Filo is the second true companion of Naofumi in The Rising of the Shield Hero. She is from the filolial race and was purchased by Naofumi from the slave merchant, Beloukas. She resembled an ordinary chick when she was born. A day after some training and levlevellingeling, she transforms into the size of an average steamed bun. As Filo keeps on gaining experience, she resembles an ostrich-like form upon which Naofumi can finally ride.
Filo gained notoriety after defeating Motoyasu in the race for the town guarded by Naofumi during the waves. Soon after, Naofumi discovers that Filo has the ability to transform into her human figure, which is unusual among filolials. Filo, it appears, can do a variety of things that ordinary filolials cannot. For instance, speaking and changing into a human. She has the ability to do so because of her association with Naofumi, the Shield Hero.

How Strong is Filo in The Rising of the Shield Hero?
Filo is a very powerful filolial that serves as Naofumi's offensive attack alongside Raphtalia and Melty. She has incredible speed and hawk-like attacks that deal a lot of damage to her opponents in a row.
Her powers are greatly enhanced when she is equipped with steel talons and defensive spells, allowing her to overwhelm the enemy, including Motoyasu and his unfortunate party. Aside from that, she can also easily do a combo attack with Raphtalia and Melty in order to defeat Naofumi's foes.
It's also worth noting that Filo has a strong bond with Naofumi, even when the latter employs his curse shield series. In fact, in Season 1, Filo is consumed with rage as Naofumi employs the rage shield to defeat the soul-eating monster as well as one of the strongest characters in the series, Glass.
Will Filo Ever Grow Up in The Rising of the Shield Hero?
After the appearance of the filolial queen, Fitoria, in the first season, it is almost certain that Filo will mature in The Rising of the Shield Hero. Filo will technically become the Filolial Queen, capable of transforming into a massive bird. Filo's size does not even come close to Fitoria's transformation at the time of writing.
Accordingly, Fitoria informs Naofumi that Filo will be able to live through generations, as symbolized by the strand of hair on Filo's head. Filo's hair strands will grow in number as he grows and matures. Filo, on the other hand, needs to gain a lot of levels and experience in order to raise her stats to a level comparable to Fitoria's.
