Netflix has been greeting the new year with a bang. Not only did the streaming giant drop a brand new teaser announcing the release date of the third season of Stranger Things, but it also announced the official premiere date of The Punisher season 2.

The streaming company's Middle East and North African Twitter account just recently shared a list of release dates of the movies and series coming to Netflix in January (which has since been deleted) and it looks like the second season of The Punisher was included. Marvel fans better get ready to binge because The Punisher season 2 is making its big debut on January 18.

This is pretty exciting news for the fanbase. Marvel fans have had nothing but heartache the past two months. First, Netflix announced that Iron Fist and Luke Cage were both canceled for reasons yet to be revealed. Then, a month after the shows were axed, critically-acclaimed Marvel Netflix series Daredevil was also put on the chopping block. Now, the only Marvel Netflix shows left alive are Jessica Jones, The Punisher, and potentially, The Defenders (though it seems highly unlikely that Netflix would greenlight a second season for the Marvel TV team-up series).

Now that season 2 finally has a release date, fans can revel in the fact that they'll finally get to see Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle full evolution into The Punisher. Speaking in an interview with Collider yesterday, The Punisher showrunner Steve Lightfoot decided to tease what was to come in the second season of the series and as it turns out, we'll get to see Frank turning into the vigilante that everyone wants him to become.

The Punisher Season 2 makes its debut on Netflix on January 18, 2019.
