The Night Manager Season 2 is officially in the works, seven years after the BBC adaptation of John le Carré.

According to Deadline, the show's second season will be a co-production between the BBC and Prime Video, which means it will air exclusively on the BBC in the UK and on Prime Video worldwide.

Tom Hiddleston Returns for The Night Manager Season 2

The publication also stated that Tom Hiddleston will reprise his role as Jonathan Pine, that The Night Manager Season 2 would begin filming later this year in London and South America, and that it will most likely be a two-season order.

According to Deadline, the new season will be written by David Farr (The Midwich Cuckoos, Hanna) and will be set in the present day. Pine will apparently face a new lethal task after learning that Hugh Laurie's character, arms trader Richard Roper, has died.

What The Night Manager is All About

Pine falls in love with the mistress of local playboy Freddie Hamid in the first season, an adaptation of the late le Carré's 1993 novel of the same name, only to be murdered when she learns too much about Hamid's family and their contacts with Hugh Laurie's Richard Roper.

Pine is recruited several years later by a British intelligence operative (Olivia Colman) to exact revenge on Roper. Pine infiltrates Roper's inner circle and falls for Roper's lover, Jed (Elizabeth Debicki) while engaging in a deadly game of deception with the crafty, seductive arms dealer.

The miniseries also starred Tom Hollander, David Harewood, and Tobias Menzies, and it received critical praise upon its premiere, winning two Emmys for director and score and earning nominations for Hiddleston, Laurie, and Colman.

What to Expect from The Night Manager Season 2

The Night Manager Season 2 is expected to pick up with Pine in the present day after he learns that Roper is dead after being kidnapped by the Syrians at the end of Season 1, preparing Pine for an even more dangerous battle ahead.

The Night Manager Season 2 production is set to begin later this year.
