The Matrix 4 is set to release later this year, but the story details of the highly-antcipated sci-fi film are still being kept under wraps. Original cast members from the original Matrix trilogy Keanu Reeves and Carrie Anne-Moss will return in the sequel which is set to continue the story, and the film will also star newcomers Priyanka Chopra, Jessica Henwick, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
During an interview with Variety, Chopra talked about her role in The Matrix 4, and although she did not reveal much about her role, she teased something interesting about it.
"I can't say much, but she's something you don't expect," Chopra told Variety. "What I can say is I finished filming and it was the first movie I did after lockdown and I've never felt safer on a set."
The sequel is expected to be innovative, so Chopra's role will probably be unique to the franchise. Although it's still unclear how The Matrix 4 will continue the story of the original Matrix trilogy, Reeves subtly teased how his character Neo will return in the sequel. Actress Gina Torres, who starred in the first two Matrix films as Cas, recently talked to The Big Ticket podcast about her confusion about the characters who apparently died in the original trilogy. "Not to be bitter or anything, but the people that are actually in the movie, I believe died," Torres said. "And the people that aren't didn't. So that's all I have to say about that. I'm so curious about where they're going with this. And what's their jumping-off point and what story they want because it just felt like they told it."
