The Mandalorian Star Reveals Dream Star Wars Role Was Princess Leia

One of the most sought after roles in the Star Wars universe is definitely becoming Princess Leia, and The Mandalorian star Katee Sackhoff doesn’t shy away from this dream role. Sackhoff plays the live-action Bo-Katan Kryze after voicing the character in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and though Star Wars fans were shocked to see how well she played her role, Sackhoff can’t help but recall how much she wanted to play Princess Leia.

In a recent interview in the new issue of Star Wars Insider, Sackhoff opens up on how much she has wanted to take part in the Star Wars franchise since she was little. The actress even went as far as to say whether she were to be casted as a rock in the background, she would downright say yes. Check out her full quote below:

“I didn’t need to do any research! It was Star Wars!” The 42-year-old actress said, “I’ve told everyone who has ever represented me that if the Star Wars people ever called me, for anything, I would take it. I kid you not. If they’d told me to play the part of a rock and sit in the background, I would have taken it! When Dave called me and asked me to voice the part of Bo-Katan, I jumped. There were no questions, I just said yes!”

“As a kid, I’d wanted to grow up to be Princess Leia.” Sackhoff said, “I’d also wanted to grow up to be Bruce Willis, but I really wanted to be in Star Wars. I loved that world! I loved what Star Wars was, so it blew my mind that the circumstances of my career had found me in that place!”

There is no doubt that since Sackhoff is also known for her previous sci-fi roles such as being Starbuck in 2003’s Battlestar Galactica reboot, the big Star Wars geek is more than happy to finally be a part of her favorite childhood franchise. Though not exactly playing her dream role, the actress is set to have her own Bo-Katan spinoff!

Meanwhile, we’ll be seeing her return as Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian Season 3, which hits Disney on March 1, 2023.
